Kinnevik and three of our largest investee companies are led by female Chairwomen from four countries – Dame Amelia Fawcett at Kinnevik, Cristina Stenbeck at Zalando, Carla Smits Nusteling at Tele2 and Cynthia Gordon at Global Fashion Group.
Dame Amelia Fawcett
Dame Amelia has been a Director of the Board of Kinnevik since 2011, was appointed Deputy Chairman in 2013, and Chairman in 2018. For eight years now, Dame Amelia has contributed her experience from leading global companies across multiple industries, including financial services, media and telecommunications. She has also led for many years the work of Kinnevik and its investee companies on governance, risk, compliance and remuneration.
Cristina Stenbeck
Cristina is Kinnevik’s lead shareholder and has served on Kinnevik’s Board since 2003. Over the last 16 years, she has led the transformation of Kinnevik from a mobile, media and packaging investment holding company into a leading digital growth investor. With Cristina stepping of Kinnevik’s Board at the 2019 AGM, she will continue to support the business and influence material strategic matters in her role as an active owner. One of the ways in which she will continue supporting Kinnevik is by leading Zalando’s Supervisory Board, where she will support the Zalando team as it sees through its bold strategic vision of becoming the Starting Point for Fashion.
Carla Smits Nusteling
Carla has served on Tele2’s Board since 2013 and as Chairman of its Audit Committee since 2014. Carla has an excellent understanding of Tele2’s history, mobile operations, and how to ensure that Tele2’s Board remains effective in implementing the company’s strategic direction.
Cynthia Gordon
Cynthia is the Chairman of Global Fashion Group, as well as a Board Director at Kinnevik companies Bima and Bayport. She previously served as a Director of the Boards of Kinnevik and Tele2, and headed Millicom’s Africa division during 2015-17. Cynthia has strong expertise in digital businesses and emerging markets, drawing on her many years of experience from leading telecommunications companies.
