Collaboration with Blindeforbundet

Enabling Innovation

For the blind and partially sighted, the possibility to use the speech function for grocery shopping online is revolutionary. Prior, they have been dependent on others having to tell them which items are located where in the store.

In 2017, Kolonial.no started a collaboration with the Association of the Blind and Partially Sighted in Norway, and the company provides a service that undoubtedly will make the everyday life easier for many of the memebers. As both the web site and the app are built based on universal design principles, they are inclusive and can easily be used by both blind and partially sighted people.

Freedom

We are very happy and proud that Kolonial.no has become one of our main partners. For the first time in my life, I can "go to the store" and shop alone, while I easily get an overview of the product selection, says Arnt Holte, General secretary of the Norwegian Association of the Blind and Partially Sighted.

Inclusive and Universal Design

The founder and CEO, Karl Alveng Munthe-Kaas, explained that Kolonial.no is rather a tech company selling groceries than vice versa as all technical aspects of the pruduct is build inhouse.  Owning the entire business chain gives the company full control over all its components and makes it easy to put the customer experience in the center.
